Black Ops 7 Season 1 Meta Breakdown

The first major seasonal update for Black Ops 7 has landed, bringing significant weapon balance changes that have completely reshaped the competitive meta. Here's what you need to know.

MXR-17: The New King

The MXR-17 Assault Rifle has emerged as the undisputed meta weapon for Season 1. With its excellent damage profile (31 base damage), competitive TTK (280ms), and manageable recoil, it dominates at all ranges. The optimal build focuses on range and control:

• Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
• Barrel: 17" Greaves Scourge Barrel
• Optic: FANG HoverPoint ELO
• Stock: Winch Stock
• Magazine: Rhodes Drum Mag

Jackal PDW: Significant Nerf

The previously dominant SMG has been hit hard:

• Close-range damage reduced from 30 → 28
• Maximum damage range reduced by 8%
• Sprint-to-fire penalty increased by 15ms

This opens the door for competitors like the Jackal's sibling, the Carbon 57, and the newly viable MPC-25.

Sniper Meta Shift

For the first time in BO7 history, aggressive sniper play is viable. The LR 7.62 and Strider 300 both received handling improvements:

• ADS time reduced by ~20ms
• Sprint-to-fire improved by 15ms
• Flinch resistance increased

Expect to see more aggressive sniping in Ranked Play and CDL matches.

What This Means for Loadouts

The meta has shifted from pure SMG dominance to a more balanced AR/SMG/Sniper triangle. Adapt your loadout based on map and mode:

• Small maps (Shipment, Nuketown): Carbon 57 / MPC-25 SMG builds
• Medium maps (Terminal, Rust): MXR-17 AR + Carbon 57 secondary
• Large maps / Warzone: MXR-17 + LR 7.62 / Strider 300 sniper combo
