Call of Duty: Warzone Season 04 Reloaded Patch Notes
Reduced the red circle on the map tracking enemy holding the Classified Weapon by 20%.
Increased the amount the tracking red circle shrinks as the Classified Weapon holder earns eliminations.
These changes make the Classified Weapon Public Event feel more deliberate while allowing other Public Events more opportunities to appear in the rotation. We’re very pleased with how Classified Weapons have performed in live so far, and these adjustments are aimed at improving overall event variety. We’ve also slightly increased the challenge by making the weapon holder’s location easier for nearby enemies to track.
CONTRACTS

Supply Run
Slightly increase Supply Run cash rewards.
EQUIPMENT
» All Modes «
Throwing Axe
Reduced Throwing Axe spawn frequency in loot.
Removed the upper torso damage multiplier. Upper torso hits will no longer down fully plated enemies in a single hit.
Throwing Axes that ricochet off surfaces can no longer down fully plated enemies in a single hit.
Throwing Axes have remained a rewarding high-skill piece of equipment. Their consistency in securing one-hit eliminations particularly through upper torso hits and bouncing off surfaces has made it more forgiving than intended. These adjustments place greater emphasis on precision and we'll continue monitoring its performance and player feedback.
FIELD UPGRADES
» Resurgence «
Self-Revives and Advanced Self-Revives
Slightly reduced the overall drop chance of Self-Revive in Legendary and Base Supply Boxes.
Slightly increased the chance for an Advanced Self-Revive to drop from Supply Boxes.
These changes reduce the overall number of Self-Revives available throughout a match while maintaining access to the newer Advanced Self-Revive. Our goal is to reduce the frequency of self-revive encounters without significantly impacting the availability of the newer item.
KILLSTREAKS
» Battle Royale & Resurgence «
Precision Airstrike Angle Adjustment
Precision Airstrikes will now approach from behind the player that called it in instead of a different path.
When we updated Precision Airstrikes a few years ago, we changed them to automatically select the optimal approach angle to maximize their area of impact. While this improved their effectiveness, it also removed an important gameplay cue by making it harder for nearby players to identify the direction the strike was called from. We’re restoring this functionality so Precision Airstrikes once again approach from the caller’s facing direction, improving clarity and counterplay while maintaining their overall effectiveness. We’ll continue monitoring performance and player feedback after this adjustment goes live.
BUG FIXES
Fixed an issue where Champion’s Quest icons were not visible after a player left the match while holding a Champion's Quest item.
Fixed an issue that allowed players to extract more than one Champion’s Quest item per match.
Fixed an issue where gas circles would not properly readjust after a Champion’s Quest mission failed during a Battle Royale match.
Fixed an issue where players could spawn in the upper jail area without a weapon at the start of a Gulag match, preventing them from fighting their opponent.
Fixed an issue where players could respawn with a blurry screen after being eliminated in Bunker Buster gas while using the Irradiated and Field Medic perks.
Fixed an issue where Champion's Quest could fail if the drone crash site was near or inside the gas.
Fixed an issue where Deployable Buy Stations did not disable at the correct distance when inside the gas after Circle 3.
Fixed issues where players could exploit map geometry to access unintended areas.

» All Modes «
Increased Deployed Field Upgrade Limit
Increased the maximum amount of different Field Upgrades that can be deployed from 1 to 2.
This change has not been applied to Ranked Play at this time.
Increasing the deployment limit creates more opportunities for strategic coordination while preserving the flexibility to balance individual Field Upgrades independently. We don’t want to enable this in Ranked Play until after EWC to both see how this lands in non competitive modes, and also as the team is careful to not mess too heavily with the competitive meta prior to the tournament.
Improvements to Item Stacking on the Ground Quality of Life
Additional loot coming out of Ammo Depots, Munition Boxes, Armor Boxes and Utility Boxes will now more easily stack with matching nearby items instead of scattering across the ground.
Ground loot from these interactions could quickly clutter the nearby area, making it harder to identify and collect important items during combat. Automatically stacking duplicate drops improves readability and creates a cleaner looting experience.
» Battle Royale & Resurgence «
Updated Default Parachute Behavior Quality of Life
The default Parachute Behavior setting has been changed from “Freefall” to “Always” for both Keyboard & Mouse and Controller.
We’ve heard from new players that they expect parachutes to deploy automatically, especially while they’re still learning the game. Changing the default setting creates a more forgiving experience, while still giving players the option to adjust it to suit their preferred playstyle.
» Resurgence «
Adjusted Killstreak Loot Frequency
Slightly increased overall amount of killstreaks in Haven’s Hollow and Fortune’s Keep frequency.
Haven’s Hollow and Fortune’s Keep are below the amount of killstreaks on Rebirth Island. This change is to align the maps to allow us to gather feedback on the amount of killstreaks in Resurgence and make adjustments accordingly. Additional changes are planned in a future update, and this alignment helps keep the maps consistent in the meantime.
RANKED PLAY
Reduced Overall Killstreak Loot Frequency
Reduced overall Ranked killstreak frequency in Supply Boxes by 20%.
This adjustment places a greater emphasis on strategic decision-making when using killstreaks. By reducing their overall availability, we aim to limit excessive killstreak usage in Ranked Play, creating a more competitive experience while ensuring they remain impactful when activated. We will continue monitoring gameplay balance and player feedback.
Killstreak Loot Distribution
Added Napalm Strike and Smoke Screen to the loot pool.
Slightly reduced spawn rates of Precision Airstrikes and Cluster Strikes.
Slightly increased spawn rates of Counter UAVs.
These changes diversify the available killstreak options while reducing the frequency of high-damage offensive streaks. The updated distribution also brings Ranked Play more closely in line with the variety found across other Resurgence playlists.
BUG FIXES
We’ve deployed an update that should mitigate the issue where players can become stuck in the Grappling Hook animation. We’re continuing to investigate a full fix.
Fixed an issue where the Apocalypse Camo was not unlocking for the CBRS-3 and VX Compact despite players meeting the required conditions.
Fixed an issue where the challenge widget for Evolving Blackcell blueprints was missing a background, causing readability issues.
Fixed an issue where the Razor 9mm could still appear in Black Ops Royale loot.
Fixed an issue where players would respawn with only rocks and no weapons after being redeployed via a completed Most Wanted contract.
Fixed an issue where players would incorrectly see a win streak loss warning despite not having any win streak active in their party.
Fixed an issue where remaining Champion’s Quest items were not cleaned up after one was extracted.
Fixed an issue where the missile transport vehicle lacked player collision for players standing on top of it.
Fixed an issue causing Champion's Quest items to appear in locations where players could not acquire them.
Fixed an issue where the Champion's Quest squad could extract their own CQ items after recovering them from another team, incorrectly failing the quest and awarding a Champion's Quest Token.
Fixed an issue where players could no longer use the Isotope ability after being eliminated during the Isotope Core cooldown.
Fixed an issue where the extraction helicopter would fail to appear after being called in when a player extracted an Isotope Core recovered from an enemy Champion's Quest squad.
Fixed an issue where Champion’s Quest icons would appear in the Gulag.
Fixed an issue where Champion’s Quest icons would clear too soon.
Fixed an issue where the extraction helicopter would appear in an incorrect location before flying to the extraction pad.
Fixed an issue where the Encrypted Drive cooldown duration was not displayed.
Fixed an issue where the missile transport vehicle ping on the Tac Map incorrectly displayed as “Cargo Truck.”
Fixed an issue where the Nuke arming countdown timer would incorrectly display 0:00.0 for players not performing the Champion’s Quest.
Fixed an issue where players would incorrectly see a win streak loss warning despite not having any win streak active in their party.
Fixed an issue where the Isotope icon would remain visible after the item was dropped and picked back up by the player.

Champion’s Quest
Champion’s Quest returns with a new multi-step objective chain designed to challenge the most skilled squads. Players can gain access by winning five consecutive Core Battle Royale matches or 30 total matches within a single season.
Eligible squads must secure the Champion’s Contract from a designated contract briefcase during a match to activate the quest. From there, they’ll complete a series of objectives across the map, including transporting a radioactive isotope, recovering a hard drive, and escorting a missile transport vehicle to randomized destinations.
Randomized objective locations, public events, and match-wide visibility turn the quest into a server-wide battle.
As the quest unfolds, enemy squads can contest objectives and intercept carriers. Successfully stealing a key item from a CQ squad and extracting it at a designated helipad will reward your squad with a CQ token for a future match.
Once a squad has claimed the world-first achievement, the Golden Ticket public event system will unlock, creating rare, alternative opportunities to earn progress towards a CQ token.
Successfully completing Champion's Quest will remove eligibility from all squad members until a new contract is earned.
Accumulating multiple Champion’s Quests victories will result in even more rewards, including:
Our team is incredibly excited to deliver the next chapter of Champion’s Quest. Since its introduction, it has become one of Warzone’s most memorable experiences, and the success of the previous iteration gave us the opportunity to continue evolving the formula in new ways. With this version, we wanted Champion’s Quest to feel more like a match-wide event that the entire lobby can engage with. The new randomized, multi-phase structure also creates more opportunities for players to track and disrupt an active run. We also wanted to reward that participation, which is why we've introduced additional ways to progress toward earning a Champion’s Quest contract through that disruption. Our goal is to preserve the challenge and prestige of Champion’s Quest while creating more meaningful player interactions, more ways to earn the contract, and more reasons for everyone in the lobby to get involved. We can't wait to see how players enjoy this new experience!

Supply Boxes Disabled in Gas
Players can no longer interact with Supply Boxes located deep within the gas.
Looting deep in the gas was creating unintended gameplay patterns and disproportionately rewarding players who remained outside the playable area. This change places greater emphasis on positioning and encourages squads to contest resources within active combat zones.
Deep-in-Gas Dynamic Grace Distance
The distance at which players are considered "deep in the gas" now scales based on the current circle.
Circle 1: 40m (unchanged)
Circle 2: 30m
Circle 3 and later: 25m
Early circles allow more flexibility when rotating through the gas, while later circles are intended to demand greater urgency and commitment. Dynamically scaling the grace distance better reflects the pace of each match phase and helps reduce excessive gas play during endgame scenarios.
Redeployment Orientation Quality of Life
Players redeploying near teammates positioned close to the gas will now face toward the safe zone rather than toward the gas.
Adjusted redeploy orientation so players face more directly toward the ground when returning to the match.
Redeploying near teammates positioned along the edge of the gas could leave players disoriented or facing away from the playable area. These changes improve situational awareness and help players quickly identify rotation opportunities after respawning. Facing players more directly toward the ground also reduces the time required to orient themselves and begin their descent. Our goal is to ensure players remain on the same paige when redeploying to the field, regardless of where their squad is positioned.
» Battle Royale & Resurgence «
Hotzone Loot
Hotzones across all maps now have a chance to spawn a Gas Mask as ground loot.
Hotzones across all maps, excluding Rebirth Island, now have an increased chance to contain Legendary Supply Crates.
Haven's Hollow has an additional increased chance for Legendary Supply Crates to appear.
To offset these improvements, the overall number of Legendary Supply Crates outside of Hotzones has been slightly reduced.
Hotzones are intended to serve as high-risk, high-reward areas. These changes improve the quality of rewards available within Hotzones while concentrating valuable loot into contested locations rather than distributing it evenly across the map. Our goal is to maintain overall match economy balance while creating more meaningful incentives to engage with Hotzones. Rebirth Island has been intentionally excluded from these changes, as we're currently satisfied with its pacing and economy. We'll continue monitoring player engagement and expect additional Hotzone-related updates in future releases.
» Battle Royale «
Dynamic Gulag Wait Times Quality of Life
Players waiting in the Gulag without finding an opponent will now receive a free redeploy faster as the match progresses.
Circle 1: 95 seconds (unchanged)
Circle 2: 65 seconds
Circle 3 and later: 45 seconds
With current match pacing, the number of players in the Gulag decreases rapidly during the later stages of a match, often resulting in extended wait times. This adjustment reduces downtime and helps players return to the action more quickly. We'll continue monitoring feedback and performance following this change.

Point Turret
Reduced target acquisition range from 25m to 18m.
Increased target acquisition delay from 0.3 seconds to 1 second.
Reduced the maximum number of simultaneously deployed Point Turrets from 2 to 1.
Point Turrets were providing too much area denial with limited counterplay, particularly in close-quarters combat environments. These changes are intended to make turret placement more deliberate, provide opponents with additional time to react, and reduce situations where multiple turrets could effectively lock down an area.
Stims
Reduced health regeneration by 40% while inside the gas.
Stims were allowing players to survive in the gas for extended periods and enabling strategies that circumvented intended circle pressure. Reducing their effectiveness while in the gas reinforces the importance of positioning while preserving their utility during combat.
Grappling Hook
Reduced maximum movement speed by 15%.
Reduced early-detach vertical speed boost by 25%.
Reduced early-detach momentum retention from 75% to 70%.
Reduced early-detach maximum speed by 25%.
We've heard feedback from across the community that the Grappling Hook was enabling highly aggressive movement and allowing players to reposition with limited risk. While previous adjustments to Surveyor helped address some of these concerns, we are not satisfied with the Grappling Hook's current impact on combat balance. These changes preserve its mobility utility while reducing some of its more extreme speed and momentum interactions. We will continue monitoring feedback and gameplay data as players adapt to these adjustments.
